Communications

The Office of Connectional Ministries Communications Team supports and guides the communications efforts of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church and the Greater Northwest Area (GNW Area) of The United Methodist Church. We regularly publish stories on our news blog featuring original content and timely news items across the United Methodist connection.

Additionally, our communications team designs and supports the web ministry of the groups mentioned above, including their official websites and social media. We produce a bi-weekly News Digest, alternating with a GNW Area Newsletter to help share information and support the different projects of our annual conference ministry areas. Submissions for this newsletter are due on Wednesday by noon to communications@pnwumc.org and are subject to approval.

To sign up for our PNW Conference newsletter, visit https://gnw-email.brtapp.com/subscribe and select “PNW News Digest.”

Our annual conference is also home to the Regional Media Center (RMC), which serves the United Methodist churches in the Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Conferences. In addition to its library of video resources available for loan to member churches, the center can consult with its members on media licensing for worship and live streaming.

Our work in supporting the communications needs of our annual conference also extends to supporting the local church’s work. Through training and consultation, we assist local churches looking to expand or perfect their capacity to reach new people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are partners with United Methodist Communications in supporting the local church.

Communication Policy

The Pacific Northwest Conference Office of Connectional Ministries works collaboratively and creatively to serve the missional needs of United Methodist ministries in Washington State and Northern Idaho. We welcome the submission of news and requests (job openings, ministry materials) that benefit the local church and serve the mission of our larger connection. Space limitations and other considerations may prevent your material from being printed or posted.

Any fundraising events or requests should be for official United Methodist projects, most typically denoted with a conference or general church Advance Number. Publication of causes, events, or job postings by partnered agencies, outside groups, and unofficial organizations within shall be at the discretion of the Director of Communications as guided by denominational policy and practice.

While we occasionally share information about ministry materials (books, curricula, etc.) and training opportunities that may benefit leaders in our local churches, we reserve the right to use our sole discretion in making such decisions.

We reserve the right to edit all submissions. If submitting photos or artwork, please ensure that it is high-resolution and that you have attained any copyright and permissions that may apply.
