A pastoral transition can be a difficult and stressful time for both the pastor and the local churches involved. The wide variety of feelings, often including both sadness and excitement, are natural. However, appropriate care and wisdom in navigating those emotions, and strategically planning for future change can make all the difference. While much of this work and responsibility does lie with the pastor, a healthy transition – just like a healthy local church ministry – is best viewed as a partnership between the pastoral leader and the lay leadership of the church.
The resources on this site are intended to support this process of transition and lead it through the goodbyes and endings toward the hellos and healthy beginnings. You’ll find questions to ponder, practical resources to use, and teaching videos on relevant topics.
