The 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches

I recently has traveled to Busan, South Korea as part of the United Methodist delegation to take part in the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches or WCC. The General Assembly is the highest governing body of the WCC and meets only once every seven years.

This event brings together representatives and observers from 347+ denominations and at least 110 countries in perhaps the most diverse gathering of Christians in history. You can follow along with me through his blog http://wccgabusan.wordpress.com and expect a Channels article on my return.

I hope that my experience at the WCC – like many of the other ecumenical and interfaith events I participate in on behalf of the Conference and the denomination can be a resource to all of our churches.

If you have comments or questions about the WCC or any ecumenical or interfaith issue
please contact me at revdjh@gmail.com.

A Land Twice Promised (D1081)

A Land Twice Promised (D1081)
Noa Baum, a gifted storyteller and peace activist, has created this DVD as a heartfelt, artistic monologue that represents the stories of Palestinians and Jews who share the complex history and emotions that surround claiming Jerusalem as their homeland. Based on Noa’s personal experiences and those of a Palestinian woman with whom Noa becomes friends, Noa creates what is not only an outstanding work of art, but also an excellent educational tool for diversity training and peace activism. This DVD will inspire you to listen to others and build relationships that lead to peace and tolerance rather than conflict and war. To reserve this video now, e-mail The Regional Media Center.
