The kids at Sandpoint United Methodist Church in Sandpoint, Idaho have been collecting change from the adults in the congregation every other Sunday for five years. Their goal was to raise $5000 to purchase an Ark from Heifer International as a mission outreach project. Heifer calls this “Changing the World Two by Two.”
On Easter Sunday this year they reached their goal!
The Ark consists of fifteen “pairs” of animals that Heifer International distributes to families around the world who depend on those animals for better nutrition and for income.
In order to help the kids track their progress, Tom Harvill built a model ark that the kids added pairs of toy animals to, three pairs were added for every $1000 that was collected.
Pictured are Roman and Ruby, who have spearheaded the project for the kids of the church, as they “launched” the full Ark on Easter morning.
