By Kristina Gonzalez | Director of Leadership Development for an Inclusive Church
I am very excited for the event, Church for All People: Engaging the Mission Field, which will take place April 24 and 25 at Seattle First United Methodist Church in the heart of Seattle, Washington. I hope you are considering this event for a team from your church.
Whether your congregation is large or small, urban, suburban or rural, the learning from Church for All People will help you to think differently about engaging the community around the church.
Our goal with this event is to engage you team spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally. Together with a welcome from Bishop Grant Hagiya and many learning opportunities with leaders from the Church for All People, we also have three forms of music to experience during the event:
- Worship in the Taize style will be offered on Friday evening by Robert Wright and Rev. Katie Stickney. Together, they have lent their gifts to a monthly Taize service at Redmond United Methodist for several years now.
- Saturday morning devotion with the Mary’s Place Choir. Mary’s Place is a leading voice in Seattle for homeless women, children, and families in emergency situations.
- Our closing music will be led by Pat Wright and the Total Experience Gospel Choir. The choir, bursting with love, joy and enthusiasm, is hailed as one of the Pacific Northwest’s finest soulful ensembles. You will be inspired by the gift of their music.
All this will take place at Seattle First United Methodist Church which is opening its doors to us for this event. We look forward to experiencing hospitality and learning in this setting.
If you have already registered for this event – thank you. If you haven’t already done so, I hope you will consider registering and bringing a team of persons for whom engaging ministry locally is a passion. Scholarships for teams are available, but applications for financial assistance need to be received no later than April 10.
