The final Kick off Banquet for the Place at the Table campaign to construct a new dining hall at Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center was held Sunday, November 6th at the Country Club at Newcastle. This is a pretty fancy place for camp folks, but everyone cleaned up really well and had a wonderful night together. The weather was beautiful and folks enjoyed the spectacular view of the Seattle skyline, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. Music was provided by the Bellevue High School Chamber Orchestra, many of whom had been guests at Lazy F for previous orchestra retreats.
There was great response from United Methodist churches in the area, including Aldersgate, Faith, Bothell, and Redmond. Other guests included tables affiliated with the YMCA, Quakers, and martial arts groups who visit Lazy F regularly.
There were about 120 people in attendance and the response to the need for increased dining hall space to provide an improved guest experience was tremendous! An incentive and challenge was provided by some very generous donors how announced they would match dollar for dollar every new gift, big or small, up to $150,000. Like the folks at our previous two events in Yakima and the Tri Cities, the response was tremendous! On this one night, people gave and pledged $70,000 for a total of $130,000 received in the last month!
So the response to the matching opportunity has been fantastic, but there is still $20,000 available! Please do consider an end of the year gift for thePlace at the Table campaign at Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center. If this is realized we will be within reach of our $1.4 million goal for ground breaking, set for this spring!
Please contact your friends at Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center (office@lazyfcamp.org or 509-962-2780) before December 31st to double your gift for this important project.
