Clergy Wellness Task Force Seeks to Create Directory of Helping Professionals

The Clergy Wellness Task Force is in the process of creating a directory of helping professionals. We want to offer clergy a resource for finding mental health professionals, spiritual directors, and life coaches in their geographical area that they know have been utilized by fellow clergy members with positive results.

We know how hard it is to find the right person to accompany you on your journey to health and wholeness. Clergy who serve rural areas often have difficulty finding any resources at all, and those who serve in larger metropolitan areas find that the list of providers you get from the insurance company can be extremely daunting. Having a list of professionals that have been recommended by fellow clergy could make the process a little less intimidating. We would also like to include retreat centers to emphasize the importance of regular retreat time.

In order to accomplish this, we need your help!

Please take a few minutes to think about the professionals you know who could be on this list. These would be people you have personally sought help from or to whom you have referred members of your congregations and that you feel comfortable recommending to someone else. They could be professionals you relied on in a previous appointment or in the area you currently serve.

Please e-mail your recommendations — including name, area of expertise, geographical area, and contact information — to Sue Magrath at suemagrath@msn.com. The task force will do the work of seeking permission from the professionals for inclusion in the directory. When complete, this directory will be made available through the conference website.
