Puyallup United Methodist Church is honoring retired clergy member Rev. Tom Slate on the occasion of his 100th birthday, at noon on Saturday, August 4th. Clergy and laity who remember Tom are invited to join in the celebration or to send him a note of appreciation and congratulations.

Rev. Dennis Paschke shares some of the despair that has been present in the Orting Valley as it has struggled with the opioid crisis over the past few years. But the story doesn't end there as a team of committed folks rooted in Orting Methodist Church organize to bring hope and take a stand against addiction through Recovery Café.

The people of Community United Methodist Church in Port Hadlock, Washington have recently started to complement their existing support of UMCOR with a renewed focus and interest in the needs of their local community. For its pastor Scott Rosekrans, this interest has resulted in broader and more creative engagement by the church, and regular surprises on his pulpit on Sunday mornings.

Coupeville United Methodist, the first church organized north of Olympia in the Washington Territory, will celebrate its 165th year of ministry on April 22. As part of its Sunday worship service (11am), its History Committee will offer a presentation of the Coupeville church from its beginnings in the 1850s. The public is invited to participate.

Despite having just started in her new position as Associate Director of the Northwest United Methodist Foundation, Julia Frisbie has already found a reason to be inspired. She shares how the generosity of two United Methodist saints recently empowered the Foundation to offer a grant, instead of a loan, when approached by Riverton Park UMC.

Immigrant voices will be at the center of the Table Turning action planned for Monday, March 26th in front of the in front of I.C.E. headquarters in Tukwila, Wash. The action, sponsored locally by Valley and Mountain, will include a ceremonial re-enactment of the “Revolutionary Jesus” turning over the tables of the money changers.
