It is with great joy that I announce the following appointment change for the Seattle District:
It is my intention to appoint the Rev. Rich Lang as the new Seattle District Superintendent, effective July 1, 2015.
Rich brings a wealth of gifts and graces for this role: a visionary leadership style, a commitment to revitalization at all levels of the church, and a proven track record in revitalizing local churches.
Rich currently serves in the Seattle District as the Senior Pastor of University Temple United Methodist Church, where he has stabilized and brought a new vision to the church and community. He has a deep commitment to engaging the mission field and provoking systemic change, and will bring these gifts to the whole annual conference and area. Rich also serves on the Board of Ordained Ministry and in numerous district roles.
Rich’s spouse, Cathy, serves in the treasurer’s office for our Pacific Northwest Annual Conference. Together, they have two sons: Michael, age 25 and Andy, age 21.
I am excited for the Seattle District and for the entire Pacific Northwest Annual Conference. I hope you will join me in looking forward to Rich’s leadership for the whole church!
