Peace with Justice Grants awarded to PNW Churches | By Ann Eachus
Peace With Justice Grants have been awarded to projects of four Pacific Northwest Annual Conference churches and four organizations. They are:
- Cashmere United Methodist Church in support of their community meal program
- Goldendale United Methodist Church for their Kids Camp an after school day care program
- Lake Washington United Methodist Church for Safe Parking Program Wireless Internet Access
- Wenatchee First United Methodist Church for Bags of Grace and Packing Friendship Ministries
- Creation Change for Just Juice: Eucharistic Wine from Crop to Cup
- Sierra Service Project for scholarships for youth groups to participate in their Childhood Hunger program
- The Rainbow Center of Tacoma, WA for ASL interpreting services for Gay Pride Festival Week
- Yakima Christian Mission for their summer Youth Leadership and Outreach Program
The source of these grants is the Peace With Justice Offering. Half of the offering is sent to the Global Board of Church and Society for national and international work. Half stays in the Pacific Northwest for projects here. Peace With Justice Sunday is the Sunday after Pentecost which is May 26 this year. However it may be observed on other Sunday if a church prefers.
