An invitation to WALK TO SAMARIA from Palabra Viviente UMC of Everett and Mapton UMC

WALK TO SAMARIA.  Palabra Viviente, UMC of Everett and Mapton, UMC are inviting clergy and laity from throughout the conference to participate with us in a “Walk to Samaria” to meet the woman at the well. This concept originated by Sarah Harkness of the Oregon/ Id conference invites peoples to engage the ethnic communities through a Home Trip of Immersion.  Persons that are interested in going outside their box are invited to come to us for a weekend immersion experience in worship, bible study, cultural diversity and discussions of outreach services. These home immersions would be similar to a trip thousands of miles away but at essentially at little or no cost. They would stay at members homes, sleeping bags in the church or a hotel. We would provide all the meals. They would come away with an in-depth knowledge of the culture, the peoples’ struggles, hopes and aspirations and possibly refreshed in the spirit to bring transformation to themselves, their church and to their local community. They might even have an encounter with Jesus at the well with the Samarian woman and lo and behold they might pick up couple of Spanish words.  When you have a group of 5 to 15 who want to participate give us a call and we will schedule some dates with you

Wanted: Ideas for Small Church Fundraising

We’re looking for ideas, and would like to hear about successful fundraisers in other small churches.  Please send your ideas and stories to Pastor Kathy Makus or give them to her at Annual Conference. Also, let Kathy know if you want her to email you a summary of the ideas received. (Credit will be given to the churches submitting ideas unless they ask that their name not be included.)
