Administrative Assistant

Edmonds United Methodist Church is currently seeking a Part-Time Administrative Assistant (approx. 25 hours per week). Responsible for administrative support to the Program Staff, as well as general office duties as required.

Must have strong computer skills (PC platform), and be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products: Publisher, PowerPoint, Access, and Word. Knowledge of QuarkXpress, PhotoShop and FreeHand desirable but may be developed.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact tactfully with people from all age groups and socio-economic levels. Music Director

Job Title:  Music Director
Church:  Cedar Cross United Methodist Church, Mill Creek
Description:  Planning, organizing, maintaining and directing the entire music program for the church.  This includes Chancel Choir, Bell Choir and Children’s Choirs.  The director is also responsible for organizing special music for services the choir is not performing, summer services and for all other special services.
Qualifications:

  • BA in Music or equivalent experience and training
  • Experience in vocal training, choral literature, and piano, conducting and directing a non-profit music program
  • Ability to work in a team and volunteer environment

Specific Tasks: 

  • Work with Pastor and Worship Committee to shape the music ministry for Cedar Cross
  • Recruit, train and support volunteers for the various choirs
  • Select and purchase music for all choirs, within the church budget
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the Cedar Cross music program
  • Maintain and organize the choral library
  • Contract piano tuning and maintenance
  • Communicate the music schedule for the Sunday worship guide to the Church Office Administrator
  • Schedule and supervise all special music groups and soloists for all servicew and summer worship
  • Screen, recommend and select individuals to be hired as pianists and any other musical positions, as necessary
  • Attend monthly meetings with Pastor and Worship Committee
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.

Music Director

Job description: We desire a qualified candidate that will help coordinate all parts of our music programs, including our children’s choir, our multi-generational bell choir as well as to give leadership to beginning an adult choir.  We prefer someone that is passionate about music, has the ability to read music, and has some familiarity with sacred music.  Previous experience leading or directing music, an ability to play at least one instrument, and experience with hand bells may be helpful, but are not required. 
Hours:  Weekly hours are fairly consistent, with approximately five to six hours per week (two hours per week for practices in the middle of the week, possibly increasing to three when we develop an adult choir, and one-and-a-half to two hours per week for Sunday worship).  There is a monthly “worship planning” meeting, where the entire worship team comes together to choose songs and plan the worship experience.  This is a paid position.
