New Director of Latino Ministries for Cal-Pac
On March 1, after a national search, the Rev. Emilio Muller will become the Director of Latino Ministries for the California-Pacific Annual Conference. Muller, a native of Cuba, comes to Southern California from the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he was invited by Bishop Elias G. Galvan to implement the National Hispanic Plan in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference. Currently, he serves a faith community that has become the first mission church and the mother church of more than seven new missions in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference. Camping Corner
The Camping Board of Stewards has been conducting a survey by email about our summer camping program. We want to thank all those who have already filled it out. If you haven't already done so, you still have time. The survey will close on Saturday morning. A second survey on Retreats by local churches will be going out to clergy and selected local church officers this weekend. Please take a few moments to fill it out. Your responses will help us set priorities in the coming year. Leader in Training (LIT) weekend is April 4-6th at Lazy F. Information and registration forms are available on the camp page of the Conference website (www.pnwumc.org/camping) . Please contact the camp director at the site at which you would like to serve.
Worship Planning Task Force
The 2008 Worship Planning Task Force is looking for individuals or groups who would like to be responsible for early morning worship services at Annual Conference. We would especially encourage individuals/groups on the east side of the Cascades to develop a 6:30 morning service (30 minutes or less) and use features, images, etc. from the Seven Rivers and Inland Districts.
Worship Service Time: 6:30 am Dates: Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, June 18th- 20th

FORMER CONFERENCE LEADER DIES
Aloha Wyckoff died on January 9 in Prescott, Arizona at the age of 81. She is remembered in the Pacific Northwest for outstanding leadership as a lay person. She served 8 years as conference UMW president, 12 years as Vice-President of the Conference Council on Minstries, 4 years as Conference Lay Leader, and was a delegate to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences. After retiring, she and her husband, Burl, worked as missionaries with the United Church of Christ at a boy's school in Kafue, Zambia. A memorial service was held at her home church in Arizona. Another memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, April 19 at Trinity UMC in Seattle. Memorials can be sent to Prescott Valley UM, 8944 East Sommer Drive, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314-8334.

What Hymns Would You Like To See In A New United Methodist Hymnal?
This coming April the General Conference of the UMC will consider the recommendation for a new hymnal. This survey will allow you to suggest titles to be considered for inclusion.
You may only complete the survey one time, so do not click the link below until you are ready to suggest titles. Once you have accessed the survey, you will not be allowed to return to it a second time. Final date to complete this survey is January 31, 2008.

Attention Youth and Young Adults: Serve in Honduras this summer!
Sierra Service Project (SSP) will send three teams of young people to Honduras this summer for two weeks of cultural immersion, learning and service with the poor. The registration deadline is March 15 and space is limited to 12 per session. Each session is led by an experienced adult leader and supervised by two SSP staffers in Honduras. High school juniors and seniors as well as college-age young adults may participate. This is SSP's fifth year of sending teams to Honduras and takes place in cooperation with the United Methodist Church in Honduras and UMVIM. Memorial Service
William F. Andrews April 13, 1921 - January 9, 2008 William F. Andrews, retired pastor, died January 9, 2008. He is survived by his spouse, Ginny Andrews, who is moving to Wesley Gardens, 815 South 216th, #309, Des Moines, WA, 98198 and their three children: sons Bill Andrews, of West Hills, CA; David Andrews of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and daughter Elizabeth Williams of Spokane, WA.
Rev. Bill Andrews served the Pacific Northwest Conference in the following appointments: Parkland-Spanaway, Seattle: Highline, Sunnyside, Pasco: First, Seattle: Ronald, Shelton, Auburn: First and the United Methodist Foundation. He retired after many years of service in 1989.
There will be two memorial services: Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Auburn First United Methodist Church. 100 "N" St. SE, Auburn, WA 98002. The service begins at 2:00 p.m.
Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Wesley Homes, Logan Hall, in the Gardens building, 815 S. 216th St., Des Moines, WA 98198. The service begins at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the United Methodist Foundation of the Northwest, P.O. Box 656, Cashmere, WA 98815 for a new "Endowment for New Clergy: International Journeys with the Bishop."

I'm Jesse Love. I'll be working as the Print & Publications Manager in the Conference Office. Thank you for welcoming me into your circle. I look forward to a wonderful year in getting to know many of you.

Rev. Bryan White (Vancouver: Mill Plain) has accepted a call to become Senior Pastor of The Cathedral of Joy, a non-denominational church in Richland, Washington. He has requested withdrawal from The United Methodist Church in order to transfer his ordination. Bishop Paup has announced his intention to accept Bryan's request. His last Sunday at Mill Plain will be February 24, 2008. |
