Urgent for Lewis Country Teams
We've gotten an urgent request from Susie Duren, case worker at the Lewis County Long Term Recovery Organization (LTRO), for teams to install floor insulation in homes affected by last year's flood. The insulation has been purchased, but groups of three or four people are urgently needed for installation. Other jobs are also available for those who want to help in other ways. This cold weather continues to boost heating costs, which flood survivors can ill afford. If you can help, please contact: Brett DeMond, UMC caseworker 360-482- 3037 livingart@centurytel.net or Ronda Cordill, PNWAC UMVIM Coordinator 509-235-5466 r_cordill@hotmail.com or Jim Truitt, UMVIM Team Leader 253-630-1268 jftruitt@comcast.net Susie also reports that the UMC teams are really a driving force behind recovery, providing some of the most effective as well as most numerous helpers; we are staying in it for the long haul. God bless those who have and will contribute. - Jim Truitt UMVIM Team Leader

From Bishop Hagiya
I am a firm believer in the power of prayer., and after visiting with the Rev. Richard Hargis Family, I have been in steady prayer for all of them, and especially Richard and Jenni. I would like to ask our whole annual conference to keep them in prayers, and uplift Jenni for prayers of healing, strength, and peace. Here is the latest email from the Hargis family: Jenni is a 22 year old fighting cancer for the third time in her life. Diagnosed with Retinoblastoma at 9 weeks of age, she survived against the odds and was cancer free from 2 ½ years old until her senior year of high school. In March of 2005 she was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma in her bladder. Through surgery and chemo she held that cancer at bay until May of 2007 when it was discovered to have metastasized into her liver, lungs and bones. No known treatments were available but she participated in six different clinical studies between the summer of 2007 and August of 2008, using experimental chemo to try to stop the tumors growth, willingly letting herself be a "guinea pig" in the hope that it might help others in the future not have to go through what she was going through. In November of this year, she began to show signs of liver failure, due to the cancer. Treatment turned from curative to palliative, as she was put on hospice and began medications to manage pain, fatigue and other issues. She is bravely clinging to hope - hope of a miracle here on earth, and if that is not to be, then hope that we have in Jesus Christ of life beyond death.

Cockrum Memorial
Dear Friends in Christ,
I just wanted to pass on the sad news that my mother passed away at her home in Cashmere on Thanksgiving Day. Fortunately, we had planned to celebrate the day together, and JoAnna and I had gotten there on Wednesday, so I was able to be with her, along with my brother and his family. Born on January 10, 1920, she died at the age of 88 of complications from diabetes. She was a long-time member of First UMC, Wenatchee, where her memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, at 2:00 p.m.
Peace,
